Description
“Enameling describes the technique of using heat to fuse frit, powdered glass, to the surface of a metal object. In champlevé enameling, a recess is etched, cast, or carved into the body of the metal substrate to be filled with frit.” (The Met)
This 2- day workshop will focus on the champlevé enameling technique where students will be tasked with learning two different methods of working. Students will get hands-on experience with acid-etching to create recessed areas for enameling, and they will learn the “saw and solder” method of champlevé.
This course is designed for students with some previous enameling experience.
