Description
Everyone likes a tiny dude! For embellishing larger works, for a little friend to keep in your pocket, for a special gift, for decoration or just for fun, a little clay creature is an opportunity for a good time. Working small in ceramics presents different challenges than working larger, and we will explore what it means to change scale. We’ll talk about detail, working in batches, taking risks, getting comfortable with illuminating failure, and the perennial conversation in clay: moisture management and timing. We’ll make our own small texture tools and we’ll learn some tricks for glazing tiny pieces.
Open studio hours to work on projects during the course are included in this Open studio runs Monday (3-6pm), Thursday (3-6pm) and Sunday (5-8pm). Students will have access to 6 open studio sessions during their course.
This course is open to folks at all skill levels.
