Description

Make a piece of unique jewelry using both ceramic and small scale metal techniques in this three week course!

In the clay studio, students will learn how to sculpt on a small scale and how to use sgraffito as a surface design technique. In the jewelry studio, Students will learn the principles of annealing and work hardening sheet metal, as well as sawing and filing to create a refined brass or copper setting. There will be a complimentary cord or ribbon to suspend a wearable piece of art.

This course is open to students of all skill levels

SCHOLARSHIPS

SCHOLARSHIPS applications are available for students who may not otherwise be able to enroll in a course.  Additionally, standing sliding scale scholarships exist for QT/BIPOC students.

STEEL YARDLINGS

This class runs at the same time as our optional Steel Yardlings program.

The Steel Yard and The Department of Teaching + Learning in Art + Design (TLAD) at RISD are collaborating to offer Steel Yardlings, free art and design classes for students 4 years of age and older open to children of instructors, staff, and students currently enrolled in courses running during designated times.
