Description

Spending a warm night sitting around a fire is a Steel Yard tradition, and this winter is the perfect time to get into the shop, learn to weld, and build yourself an outdoor fire pit! Students will learn basic welding and fabrication techniques, applying these techniques to construct their own fire pit, perfect for the front yard, back yard, or patio. After assembling the frame of your fire pit you will be able to torch or plasma cut in a design on the sides, a family name, flowers, dragons, or whatever we can come up with that will translate.

Prior welding experience required — this is a great opportunity to hone your metalworking skills. Materials, safety equipment and tools will be provided. Enrollment includes additional access to one monitored Open Studio session per week, either on Thursday afternoons from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Fridays from 5:30pm – 8:30pm, or Sunday evenings from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

SCHOLARSHIPS

SCHOLARSHIPS applications are available for students who may not otherwise be able to enroll in a course.  Additionally, standing sliding scale scholarships exist for QT/BIPOC students.
