Our mission is to provide a unique, outdoor green space surrounded by our industrial past, that welcomes all members of our community to gather with friends, family and neighbors. 

Why host here? Our wide open industrial outdoor space is located in a central space at The Steel Yard. In the past, we have hosted everything from festivals to fundraisers and even private events, providing a unique space for a variety of events ranging from 50- 1500 attendees. In addition to providing a space that is accessible to our community and cultural events curators, we also curate a variety of our own events.

Art Markets

Take a stroll down Sims Avenue in Providence’s Industrial Valley to  visit our Bi- Monthly Art Markets. Discover a diverse group of makers and creatives showcasing and selling their latest work while enjoying music and local food. Take a tour of our industrial arts studio and find out what we’re all about!

Open House

During the September Art Market, we bring every department of our industrial arts studio out onto our campus with live demonstrations and participatory events. Witness the ancient art of blacksmithing, watch as our tilt-furnace gets up to high heat and pours molten iron onto sand molds, ceramic wheels spin clay into sculpture, and jewelers cut and tap metals into unique pieces of wearable art.

Annual Iron Pour and Sims Avenue Festival

Our Twentieth Anniversary Iron Pour will light up the skies over Sims Avenue  on October 21, 2023! Melting over 2,000 pounds of luminous iron in our custom-built tilt furnace, a trained pour crew will activate larger than life sculptures with  fire and molten metal. It’s a one-of-a-kind industrial art event! ADMISSION IS FREE!

While the fires burn high and hot during the Iron Pour, Sims Avenue is hopping with more than 30 local makers and artists, food and beverages from our neighbors and more!  ADMISSION IS FREE!

Thank You for considering the Steel Yard to host your event. The Steel Yard’s grounds can accommodate events from 30 – 1,500 people  offering you the chance to do something truly unique at a National Historic Register property in the heart of Providence’s cultural hub.

This questionnaire will help us anticipate your needs so we can lend our advice and event management expertise to assist you in throwing a successful gathering at the Yard. We will use this information to calculate your event fees, secure your dates and prepare a contract.

We love problem solving to make your most creative ideas a reality! A Steel Yard representative will meet with you to go over our costs and each point of this helpful planning tool to ensure we are prepared for your event!

Tell us as much as you can about your plans for this event at the Yard! Include details regarding any components of your event such as the use of vehicles, fires, rides, any other pertinent information about the event (all of the fun stuff!).

Special restrictions apply for events will attendance of 500 guests or more

SET-UP AND BREAK DOWN

If your set up and breakdown are not the same day(s) as your contracted rental period,
additional costs may be added to your rental fee.

 

WASTE AND RECYCLING

You must properly dispose of waste and garbage throughout the term of your event and immediately upon conclusion of the event the area must be returned to a clean condition.
For a fee, The Steel Yard can provide cleaning and trash removal.

 

ENTERTAINMENT AND EVENT ACTIVITIES

ANY and ALL events with amplified music or gatherings exceeding 300 people will require approval from the Providence Board of Licenses. the Steel Yard will help you apply for this permit, we just need a little information for the application. https://www.providenceri.com/efile/6081

CONCESSIONS

Vending may require licenses from the city and state departments if you or your vendors do not already have them.
