New Training & Apprenticeship Opportunities Coming Soon!
The Steel Yard and Central HEZ collaborate on training program
We are honored to officially announce that The Steel Yard has been awarded a grant to run a new version of our job training program (new name coming soon!) with the Central Providence Health Equity Zone (HEZ).
This new version will focus much more on Public Projects, community engagement in the Valley, Olneyville, Hartford, and Federal Hill neighborhoods, as well as employment opportunities at The Yard. We will train up to eight individuals in a thirty-hour paid program. We will then hire two of those graduates to work in Public Projects for twenty hours/week for three months with competitive wages!
The HEZ program is an initiative of the RI Department of Health (RIDOH), which addresses the root causes of health inequities with local, grass-roots solutions. Rather than claiming to have the best solutions for these root problems, RIDOH gives resources to local organizations in the neighborhood to try to address them. We are thrilled to work with The Central Providence HEZ and their amazing partner organizations.
Applications will be released this summer, so spread the word!
