CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

improving sound quality and safety in the studio

SOUND DAMPENING PANELS

Let’s be real- the Blacksmithing shop can get incredibly loud, plus we have to admit, the newly renovated space has had an echo problem. Our phenomenal Studio team has successfully installed sound dampening panels, treated with fire retardent, all over the ceiling to minimize how much sound bounces back and forth. The acoustic panels were treated with a fire retardant prior to installation.

INSTRUCTOR PA SYSTEM

What’s a quick and simple way to ensure a safer experience for Blacksmithing students? Make sure you can hear the Instructor instructing! We’ve set up our Blacksmithing Instructors with this handy dandy portable and wireless PA system. We’re considering setting each department up with one of these devices to ensure difficulty hearing is not a barrier for education!

COMMUNITY DECIBEL READER

Just because the noise doesn’t bother you doesn’t mean it won’t cause any damage. The community decibel reader is there for folks to monitor noise pollution. If there are sustained 85 decibels everyone should be wearing the proper PPE. Anyone exposed to 85 Dec for 15 minutes or more could experience hearing loss or damage.

PROTECTIVE HEARING EQUIPMENT

Earplugs! We’ve got them all over the studio- just look for signage. When in doubt, have them in. “The best thing you can do is try to prevent hearing loss before it happens.”
