Description
Bolo ties are a statement piece with a storied history; some tales credit store owner Manny Goodman with their popularization based on indigenous silversmiths’ devices for securing neckerchiefs, while there is also a US patent on file from Arizona silversmith named Victor Cedarstaff. Regardless of their origins, for close to a decade, they’ve served as a canvas for turquoise and silvers artists of the Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni descent, as well as other southwestern artisans.
In this workshop, you’ll learn to make your own jewelry statement piece bolo tie! Students will go through the process of designing and fabricating a bolo tie out of copper or brass sheet and incorporating a stone setting. No previous experience necessary; all tools and materials are provided.
