Description

Experiment carving clay tiles in this two day weekend workshop (2 consecutive Saturdays) with ceramic artist Rachel Mulcahy. During this class you will learn how to make decorative tiles using a reductive process called relief carving. You can decorate the surface using any imagery, pattern, or texture you can dream up! Demonstrations will be given showing the artist’s process of creating a paper stencil as a guide, and how to create a repeating pattern. At the end of the course, students will know how to use various tools to carve into the surface of leather hard clay. Students will also learn how to create a repeating pattern.

This course is designed for students at all skill levels- try something new or add a new skill to your ceramic practice!
