Description

In this 4 week course, students will learn how to design and build a fully-functional time capsule out of steel. Students will start by learning how to plasma cut, angle grind, and weld steel. Students will then design a form of their choice and engrave each side of their form. On the last week, students will bring in objects for their time capsules, place them inside flame-retardant felt, and weld their forms completely closed. After closing their capsules, students will finish their pieces with the coating of their choice. This class is for individuals excited to learn how to work with metal and leave with a meaningful object that can last lifetimes. Together, we’ll explore the power and lasting potential of steel!

This class is open to students of all levels of welding experience.

Open studio hours to work on projects during the course are included.

SCHOLARSHIPS

SCHOLARSHIPS applications are available for students who may not otherwise be able to enroll in a course.  Additionally, standing sliding scale scholarships exist for QT/BIPOC students.
