W2W 2.0 takes on Stick Welding

Today, Weld to Work 2.0 students were introduced to stick welding, or SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding). Stick welding is common in the construction fields, as it works well on thicker material and is good for outdoor use. Stick welding is one of the major types of welding; it uses an arc to melt the flux-covered electrode and base material. The flux replaces MIG welding’s gas to protect the molten metal from the atmosphere as it solidifies.
