RESILIENCE

RESILIENCE

Re . sil . ience – noun: the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness

What does it take for The Steel Yard to be resilient – especially in these tough times?  A lot of hard work (that’s for sure), coupled with a little bit of grit and a whole lot of faith, hope and love from our funders.  Speaking of which. . .

The New England Foundation for the Arts has generously provided us with – apropos – a New England Arts Resilience Fund award!  Part of the United States Arts Resilient Fund, the fund was created in response to the impact of COVID-19 on arts infrastructure and supports organizations with recovery and planning capital for a post-pandemic future.  Their funding will help us to continue paying our artists, engage our community members, advance our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion work, and collaborate with our partners.

The Windgate Foundation has once again stepped-up to ensure that The Steel Yard’s residency program remains financially within reach for emerging and mid-career artists.  Their investment expands opportunities including one-on-one meetings with guest critics, professional artists, and governmental advocates.  We’re also able to expand recruitment strategies to ensure a diverse cohort of artists reflective of our community.

And welcome Carter Family Charitable Trust!  Newcomers to our beloved group of funders, they are contributing to our educational programming with scholarship support for youth in both open enrollment courses and summer camps.  We are so excited to welcome a whole new generation of people to the industrial arts!  Thank you Carter family!

Thanks to each and every one of you who gives us strength and contributes to our resilience!
