Public Access to The Steel Yard Temporarily Suspended

A Yardie Guide to Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Hello Yardies!

This is an email regarding the coronavirus (Covid-19). Yesterday afternoon Mayor Elorza declared a State of Emergency for the City of Providence, in effect for the next two weeks. With our community health in mind The Steel Yard has decided to suspend public access to the community studio until further notice.

All public programs including courses, special events, volunteer days & studio access for community members will be temporarily suspended and not available. We will provide updates on access to the studio in the coming weeks.

Please be sure to read this email carefully and to give us a call (401.273.7101), or send an email (contact@thesteelyard.org), if you have any questions or concerns.

There are a few simple steps that each of us can take to keep our community healthy.

The basics: We are following the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). If you haven’t read them yet, please do so. To learn more about Covid-19, at-risk groups, and how to protect yourself, the CDC has information available at www.cdc.gov.

  • Thoroughly and regularly washing your hands for at least 20 seconds
  • There will be hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes provided around the studio
  • Staff are disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, such as tools, P.P.E, doorknobs, handles, and handrails throughout the day.
  • If you are not feeling well, we ask that you stay home.

As we learn more about Covid-19 and its impact in Rhode Island we may make more adjustments to our schedule and programming. The health and safety of our staff, students, instructors, residents, artists and the rest of the Yardie community is our top priority.  Be sure to check-in on our Facebook page for regular updates and keep an eye out for EMails from The Steel Yard.

From all of us at The Yard,

Thank you and be well!
