Make a decorative sign using the plasma cutter! In this taster workshop, Lyric will teach students how to operate the plasma cutter, angle grinder, and drill press to create a sign. Students can create illustrations, letters, or symbols to make their design.

INSTRUCTOR BIO

Lyric Marie Johnson is a Rhode Island-based sculptor, working primarily in metals and ceramics. Informed by a college background in molecular biology, they combine visual art, science, anthropology, and natural history, developing a complex species they’ve introduced to the world as “Liotas”. Lyric began their work at The Steel Yard in 2024 as a fabricator in Public Projects and transitioned to teaching metalworking in that same year. What they enjoy most about teaching metalworking is making the medium more accessible and showing that there are so many different ways to use your skills in metalworking!
