100th PechaKucha Night at the Steel Yard!

Join us at the Steel Yard tonight for the 100th PechaKucha Night here in Providence, “Forging ahead!” Presenters have been encouraged to interpret the theme literally, loosely, or not at all. Doors 7:20, presentations 8:20!  PechaKucha Night is FREE and all are welcome. Voluntary donations will be accepted to support Steel Yard’s shared studio space and programs!

We’re looking forward to some amazing presentations from Amamah Sardar, Howie Sneider, Yarrow Thorne, Mel Rainsberger, Luis Munoz, Annie Dickson, Alissa Marr, David R. Evans, and Stephanie Caress

We’re looking forward to having our amazing partners at Laughing Gorilla Catering running the bar as well as Championship Melt slinging grilled cheeses, and cupcakes from Sin

But what is PechaKucha, you ask? It’s a monthly format for sharing ideas in which presenters are allotted 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Simply put: it’s 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell for grown-ups. It began in Tokyo in 2003, has since spread to over 900 cities worldwide, and first landed in Providence in March of 2009. To the best of our knowledge, Providence is the only chapter in the entire world that hosts a PechaKucha Night every month of the year.
