Description

This course is designed to introduce brand new enamelists to the various possibilities of enamel and how it has been used throughout history. We will dive in-depth into the history of enamel and how the different techniques have evolved throughout time. Students will get hands on experience in preparing their metal, applying klyr-fire, and firing enamel pieces in a kiln. Students will be tasked with making color test tiles and at least 1 finished piece of jewelry. Students can expect to leave this course having gained an in-depth understanding of the basic enameling techniques. We will cover Sifting, Sgraffito, Graphite, Stenciling, and Decals. Basic materials included. Students can buy additional materials from the studio as needed.

Enrollment in this course includes attendance to one additional monitored Community Studio Access session weekly, either on Thursday afternoons from 3:00pm – 6:00pm, Fridays from 5:30pm – 8:30pm, or Sunday evenings from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
