Lu Heintz

Lu Heintz has been producing sculpture and architectural metalwork since graduating from Rhode Island School of Design in 2001. She is a dedicated craftsperson creating contemporary art and design. Her functional work provides elegant solutions for a variety of demands. Over the past decade, Lu has completed numerous private commissions and public art pieces. Her reverence for the decorative arts comes out in sculptures referencing jewelry, flatware, armor, furniture, and apparel. In 2003, she initiated the Blacksmithing program at The Steel Yard. She is an instructor of metals at The Steel Yard and Rhode Island School of Design CE. Her metalsmithing has been featured in trade magazines, and the book 500 Metal Vessels. Selected exhibitions include: Perimeter Gallery (Chicago, IL), The RISD Museum (Providence, RI), The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (TX), the National Ornamental Metals Museum (Memphis, TN), and R.K.
